Free Pet Sterilization Procedure for Low Income Families
Qualifications
To qualify for the free program, clients must have a Texas-issued identification and proof of participation in one of the following needs-based public assistance programs.
- Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP)
- Major VA Disability
- Food Stamps
- Medicaid
- Free Lunch Program (Public Schools)
- Social Security Disability (SSD)
- Harris County Health System Eligibility Program
- Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
- HUD, Section 8 Housing
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) – Formerly AFDC
- For senior citizens (over 65 years) – Medicaid/Medicare
- On a case-by-case basis when referred by a partnering organization
Applying to Our Programs:
- Take a picture or make a copy of your Texas-issued identification and proof of enrollment in needs-based public assistance or referral from partnering organization

- Upon approval, spay-neuter vouchers are sent via email or mail pending on requester preference.
- Requester makes appointment directly with veterinarian indicated on the voucher.
- On the day of the surgery, you must bring your voucher and submit it to the veterinarian.
- Vouchers are good for only 90 days after issue.
* At the sole discretion, SNIP reserves the right to determine those who is eligible or ineligible for free or reduced cost sterilization procedures.
